New music from The Men, Eagulls and a new find, Rupa & The April Fishes, all in this weeks show.

Oft thought of as a noise punk outfit from Brooklyn, The Men spin the genre pot on their latest release, Tomorrow’s Hits. This 2014 album dodges back and forth with pedal steel and slide guitars, horns, harmonica and punky song bashing at its rocking finest. What The Men lack in lyrics they make up for with raw energy. The fifth from The Men is worth a sip, but eventually you’ll be Beer Pong guzzling anyways. Cheers.

Also in this weeks show a couple of tracks from English post punks Eagulls. The debut self titled album reminds me of 80’s New Wave crossed with  90’s noise punk. Dirty, crunky, whiney all rolled into a bleak, edgy sound played from a corner, of a big warehouse sized space. The album cover says it all, a burned out hulk inside a taped off crime scene, in front of an apartment complex. The dark edge of city living. You best dial 911.

Rupa & The April Fishes. Fission, fusion, fun… three words that describe this wonderfully fun, far ranging eclectic band from San Francisco.  The bands namesake Rupa, herself a doctor, was raised in a multicultural family, who spoke as many as four languages around the dinner table! This childhood is reflected in the music of R&TAF, divided elements all used at once. Only one track from their album, BUILD, in this show. We will feature more R&TAF in coming shows!
