SeCRet LOCation #267

Posted by on

Hello all. First let me apologize for being so delinquent posting my shows. Somehow, “I’ll do it Monday”, after a long traveled high flying fun couple of weeks in March, turned into, a month later. The arrival of spring into the Methow foothills didn’t help my normally reliable Methow scheduling either.

It seemed to me as though winter 2014 got off late out of the blocks and then barely caught itself at the finish. I certainly did get some good skiing this year. Memorable skiing to places I’d never seen and with people I’ll never forget. What’s better is that this skiing was in my “backyard”! Granted, I gotta’ go 40 miles for this backyard, but I claim it anyway. What the ski season of 13/14 lacked in quantity it more than made up for in quality. Everyday was good despite a tricky snow pack. But some days, like those days in March go down in the books. Good snow, good friends, a great place to ski, and a helicopter… in my backyard… giggle.

Now that winter powder has given way to the sun and warmth of spring, the specter of summer on the horizon, I will long remember skiing the winter of 13/14.

This weeks show has some new music from one of Atlanta’s reputedly wildest bands, Black Lips. Know for shows edging toward the out of control, Black Lips seventh album, Underneath The Rainbow, was produced by Black Keys drummer, Patrick Carney. Underneath The Rainbow is as southern rock as the Black Lips will ever get. Worth a listen while driving fast on an open road.

Also new this week and to me also, Band Of Skulls. Their new release,  Himalayan, is the bands third release. Known as an indie heavy rock bluesy band, Band Of Skulls have a unique sound worth a listen.
